Allustan brings the group together to explain he needs to get to Blackwall Keep to consult with the battle mage Marzena. She has some information about green worm-like creatures found in the Cairn Hills.
The journey takes 2 days where they pay the toll to a group of bandits to pass along the south road.
When they come to the keep it is under attack by Lizardmen. Allustan dimension doors into the keep to find out that Marzena and several guards have been taken by the Bone tree tribe. Bob Helios uses his crystal ball to confirm she is in danger.
Our group does battle with the lizardmen troops. Several squads are killed by sheer strength and the aid of a catapult. The garrison in the keep cheers our hero's on in battle.

The aspect terrorizes the town of diamond lake burning buildings and killing locals. Allustran comes out and holds it back with magic. He shoves an item in Bob Helios'(his apprentice) hands and says "Drop it into the pool"
The group races back to the mines and to return the artifact.

journal entry for those who find my body
Its been a long night of fighting and the day is getting to us, we cant seem to find the person who left this blood trail, its been 4+ hours and the trail seems to have gone cold for the shaman but it seems we found some blood on the floor and we follow it. We are down to only 1 lantern and have the cleric Shen carefully carry it in the back of the group.
As we continue down the hall the floor suddenly drops out from us again and we start sliding! We all try to prepare of the fall but aren't able to catch ourselves in time. When we finally reach the bottom and tumble into a room. The room lights up in a flash as the lantern crashes on the ground, with oil burning everywhere we gather ourselves. Moments later we hear noise coming from down the cavern, across a large crevice there are 3 bridges and beyond that a corridor. Thinking i am well equipped with a shield and chain armor I ask dirty Dale to hand me a torch (forgetting that i have a dozen in my pack) and easily light it on the burning oil and we proceed. As we turn the corner we see a regular Gnoll charging at us, he quickly fires and I realizes that I have neither a shield or armor we flee. As we flee back to the bridged room I turn to face out attackers and get it squarely with a spear. We quickly rally, Dirty Dale plants a foor and starts firing arrows, Shen whips out his sling, Smokey charges in and covers the right flank, Nyquil guards the back and lays down fire with his crossbow. We exchange blows and are surprised that they never flee, they must be desperate to win the fight. Someone shouts during the fight, "Does anyone speak gnoll? maybe we can parley with them" there is a chuckle and as no one replys we kill all the gnolls.
Searching what we thing to be their lair we find no supplies, no rations only a bag with several gems and a whole lot of copper! Seeming that this is the THIRD loot stache of copper, and as a well to do hobbit, I grab the bag and heave it into what we gather to be a large endless crevasse. CLANG, CLING, DINK ... oops, shouldn't have done that, should not have done that. Nyquil suggests to the group, "we should grab a handful of that copper it might come in handy". I look over my shoulder at him... "what copper? that copper." pointing to where I just threw it. A moment later Smokey says, "Can I grab a handfull of copper in-case we need to wedge it into a doorway?" I look at him bewildered, "yea sure, its just right down there", pointing to the large crevasse. We gather the gems and decide to split them up later, exhausted from the day we stop to take a breather, eat some rations, and I secretly admire my ring.
We decide to head off letting smokey lead the way, we get to a dead end and the dwarves say this its possible to clear the cave in but it might not be stable. I think to myself, that would be a TERRIBLE way to die. We continue on and they notice there's a small passage that wasn't visible from the other direction, we follow it and it open to a room that is immediately colder. As we enter the room we hear a scream! as we look ahead we notice that the walls have come alive in some dark shadow magic and have attacked Smokey. We start trying to free him, with arrows, slings and hammers. After the fight we are all even more tired than we were before but we notice that Smokey looks weak, like someone has sapped all his strength. We check the room and come across some amazing loot! +1 Plate Magic Scroll, and a Potion. it seems some didnt fair as well as we did here, after some group discussion Nyquil get the plate and as he is handing me his old plate, it doesnt fit, its way to big and theres no chance a halfling will fit in this dwarf armor. We decide to barter and I trade him my +1 Warhammer for his +1 plate armor, it fits like a glove!
As we are walking, hopefully leaving this room I say to the party "I suggest we split the gems in to 3 groups and then cast lots for them, that way incase one of us gets sucked into the wall from a shadowy figure we dont loose all the treasure"

Smokey puffed away at his pipe and blew the smoke around him, the better to obscure the vision of the chaos gods. That bastard priest had gotten away. As much as he admired a clever foe, he had to admit a dead foe was usually a lot less trouble. He really hated this sort of loose end.
They still had the rest of the complex to investigate. They might still get him. But there was still the unknown of who had sent the vast amount of copper coins. There was a tunnel to the Underdark that needed to be investigated. And they needed to go up top and back to town. Interesting times.
